At our adoption agency here in Tyler, TX, we connect at-risk children with loving foster families and facilitate a happy home environment.

Becoming a Foster Parent in Tyler, TX
At our Tyler, TX adoption center, our team provides all the information you need to become a successful foster parent. Fostering a child (or children) is a rewarding experience –– below, we illustrate the process.
1. Foster Parent Form
The first step is to submit your foster parent form. This ensures that you meet all of the requirements for fostering, which may include employment status, criminal history, and age verification. We’ll also provide you with our information packet to explain the process of fostering in-depth.
2. Background Check
If your application is chosen, our Tyler, TX adoption center will contact you and ask that you complete a background check.
3. Orientation
Once your background check has been approved, you’ll attend orientation. This is a great time to ask any questions you may have.
4. Training
You’ll need to complete CPR and first-aid training to ensure you can properly care for a foster child in the event of an emergency. There are also specific training sessions you will need to attend. These sessions are designed to prepare you for any at-home needs your foster child may have.
5. Home Inspection
Before a child is placed into your care, a specialist will conduct a home inspection to verify that your space is safe. The Tyler, Texas foster care specialist will also assess the best fit for you and your prospective foster child.
6. Placement
The final step is to wait for the call! Our specialists will contact you when a child requires a foster home.

Kristi Haxton – Regional Director
Kristi Haxton, lifelong native of East Texas, is the Area Director for Tyler and surrounding East Texas communities. She has two grown children and three “grand-pups” that she loves to talk about. Kristi holds a B.A. in Psychology from UT Tyler and has been in the child welfare field for 12 years. She is passionate about helping others and doing meaningful work.
