A World For Children is a a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization funded in part by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. These funds provide for children's basic needs. At A World for Children, we recognize that providing a loving and therapeutic home to children placed in foster care is just one facet of their overall healing process. In some ways, it's just the beginning. We truly champion the idea of normalcy - letting our kids cast aside their very adult worries and simply enjoy being a child. We achieve this by ensuring we meet and exceed every one of their most basic of needs - and more.

AWFC designed our Bridging the Gap program to help meet the needs of foster children that often go overlooked, thus "bridging" the "gap" of their most basic needs. Bridging the Gap has several components - each of which is a crucial piece of the overall therapeutic service we provide. Through Bridging the Gap, we are able to provide back to school necessities - including clothes and supplies; jumpstart funds to help ensure we meet the immediate needs of children coming into care - often with nothing but the clothes on their back; as well as summer recreation funds so they can enjoy an all expense paid outing to the Fiesta Texas theme park. We also ensure every child in care gets a birthday gift as well as a memorable Christmas experience - complete with gifts handpicked from "wishlists" created by our kids themselves. Finally, all teens in our care have the opportunity to attend our unique agency summer LAUNCH camp, where they can have a fun, summer camp experience that also helps to prepare them for life beyond foster care. These extras would not be possible without the generous contributions of our donors and our local communities.
