Dear AWFC Foster Parents, 

We hope that you find these resource pages helpful.  As we continue to research information both Statewide and locally to assist you, your feedback will prove invaluable to us.  If you are aware of any resources that you find helpful please let us know.  If you experience any problems with the resources we have provided we would also like to hear from you.  These pages are for you, our foster parents, who we hold dearly within our AWFC family.  Please provide any feedback you may have to Barbara Baldovin, Director of Resource Development at baldovinb@awfc.org

FOSTER PARENT ANNUAL TRAINING

Each parent must obtain 30 hours each of annual training.  Only ½ of these hours can be on line.  By completing the below online trainings you will have satisfied almost ½ or at a minimum of 14.5 hours.  These trainings are State mandated and due by no later than anniversary date.

Required Annual On Line Trainings. Due by Anniversary Date

Human Trafficking (2 hrs)
Reporting Child Abuse / Neglect (2 Hrs)
Medical Consent (2.5 Hrs)
Psychotropic Medication (2 hrs)
Normalcy (2 hrs)

Trauma Informed Care (2 Hrs)

Preventing & Recognizing Sexual Abuse & Victimization of Youth in Foster Care. (1.5 hrs) (Get registration info from your AWFC office.)

Required Annual Instructor Led Trainings. Due by Anniversary Date

Reporting Serious Incidents (every 2 years-1.5 hrs)

Respite (1 hr)

Human Trafficking (2 hrs)

Water Safety (1 hr)

Cultural Diversity (3 hrs)

AWFC Medication Policy (1 hr)

EBI Refresher (8 hrs)

Disaster Training (1 hr)

Transportation Training (every 2 yrs-annually for Belong)

Cybersecurity (annually for OCOK & Belong-1 hr)

Conflict of Interest (annually for Belong-1 hr)

Communicable Diseases (annually for Belong)

Compassion Fatigue (annually for Belong-2 hrs)

CPR/First Aid (If applicable for the year-4 hours)

After taking the above mandated on-line & instructor led trainings you will be able to gage how many additional hours you will need to satisfy the 30 hours.  Up to 15 additional hours over the required 30 hours can be carried over to the following year.

Trainings provided outside of AWFC must be pre-approved for credit hours by the Director.

Self Instruction/Self Study Trainings must also be pre-approved for credit hours by the Director.  These would include books, movies, articles.  You can earn up to 3 hours through this type of training.
