Foster Home Compliance
In order to ensure children are safe and receiving appropriate services, the State has compiled a list of rules or Minimum Standards in which the Agency and families must comply. The Case Managers work closely with the families to be sure everyone remains in compliance. Each family has a file with all the necessary information. A foster home team of Case Aides, Foster Home Coordinator and Quality Specialist work with the staff and families to help everyone maintain compliance.

Training
In therapeutic foster care, training is vital to meet the varied array of needs of children in care. A significant training program is available for new families, current families and staff. Monthly training/support groups are available in each of the areas. Over 100 trainings are provided monthly across the state by A World For Children. The Clinical Director and Clinical Consultants plan the monthly/yearly training program. The Training Specialist works with the team and families, in ensuring training is occurring as needed in the various areas.
Clinical Treatment
The very heart of the foster care program is "treatment". The treatment team composed of a psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, case managers, clinical consultants staff the treatment program of each child in care to ensure the treatment plan is appropriate and being implemented. Over 100 providers (Psychiatrists, Psychologist, therapist, and specialized therapist) work with A World For Children in providing services.
Placement
Often the key to successfully placing a child in a foster home lies in the placement process which is complicated. The family strengths and the child's needs must be carefully matched. In addition, the needs and behaviors of the other children in the home must be considered. An in-depth intake study is done on all children prior to placement to assist the placement team in their decision. The placement team is composed of the Placement Coordinator, Level I staff, Foster Parent, and Intake Coordinator.

Juvenile Probation
A World For Children serves youngsters in the care of Juvenile Probation as well as Child Protective Services. Being Title IV-E approved, AWFC can provide therapeutic services to troubled youth in a foster family environment. This is often a successful alternative for our troubled youth. Having an array of experienced foster families successful in working with the teen population is a tremendous plus in serving this population.

Children's Records
The statement "if it isn't documented, it didn't happen" is definitely true in children's records. Each child in care has an extensive record composed of treatment plans, therapy notes, medical records, foster parent notes, case manager notes, school records and the list goes on and on. Each regional team is responsible for ensuring all the documentation is completed and filed. The Children's records staff is headed by the Children's Records Coordinator who leads the Case Aides in maintaining all the children records.

Finance
With a $10 million budget, the AWFC Finance Department is very important. Payroll for staff and families, accounts payable and receivable, insurance, personnel records, cost analysis, accounting system are examples of a myriad of task performed by the finance department. The Finance Director oversees the finance staff.

Agency Support
In order to keep an organization like A World For Children on track, it
takes special people to see that the wheels are always oiled and the welcome
mat is always sparkling.
The official hostess and "voice" of AWFC is
Thelma Del La Rosa. With her gracious
spirit, Thelma not only meets and greets all AWFC - Round Rock guests, she
maintains communication with all staff in the office and in the field - a
tremendous task.
Our administrative assistant - Marcia Moore - is masterful at juggling a
myriad of projects and creating spectacular results. She assists the
administrative team with publications, projects, information dissemination,
AWFC Board activities, volunteer program management, event planning and
implementation, and assisting in a host of other ways

Technology
With a very sophisticated technology system, AWFC makes communication a high priority. Cell phones, pagers, lap top computers, individual computers and voice mail allow A World For Children total accessibility. In addition, all three AWFC Regional offices are networked together along with staff in outlying areas. The Network Administrator is responsible for installation, monitoring, and maintenance of the AWFC Computer Network to include technical support for software, computers, user inquiries and agency help desk. A lifeline of the Agency is the database containing children, family, personnel, finance, provider, etc. records. The Database Administrator is responsible for managing all aspects of the database, which includes, design, programming, maintenance, and providing technical support for the database users.
