Our Central Region is the place where AWFC began. This area includes Greater Austin, Killeen, Waco, Bastrop County and Johnson City. The Central Region office is located at 1516 Palm Valley Blvd in Round Rock. The Central Team, under the leadership of Regional Director Lorraine Martinez, is a vibrant team of dedicated staff. Lorraine Martinez, who we fondly refer to as our energizer bunny, is dedicated to staying of the cutting edge of services to our special children. Lorraine states "Our World" is extremely blessed. We have amazing families, staff, volunteers, and business partners who have shared their special talents in helping the abused and neglected children in our neighborhoods. It is truly priceless when you see the community come together and change the fate of a child by giving them a second chance." Central Clinical Director Louis Rishkofski oversees the treatment program. Through his leadership our staff and foster family training has really improved. As head of the Central treatment team, Louis ensures the clinical treatment of each child in the Central Region meets their individual needs. According to Louis, “At A World For Children we are not satisfied just with quality care ("which we do"), but we seek therapeutic healing that moves a child to wholeness with a renewed mind, body and spirit." The Central Team hosts the annual statewide AWFC picnic which is held the fourth Saturday of June. Also the Central Team hosts a Blue Ribbon Community Luncheon, A Foster Parent Appreciation Event (last year we stepped back in time to Prom Night – our foster parents and staff were “looking good” and had a great evening).
